Gilded Impermanence
The Meditative Gold and Silver Leaf Art
of Janine Lambers
“Gilded Impermanence,” was a solo exhibition by German-born, New York–based artist Janine Lambers, on view in Tyte Gallery from November 8, 2025 - February 15, 2026.
Lambers, a Master Artist and Gilder certified by the German Guild Academy, transforms gold, silver, and platinum leaf into meditative reflections on nature’s beauty and transience. Drawing inspiration from the infinite cycles and quiet endurance of the natural world, she uses the subtle lustre of precious metals to reveal light, depth, and emotion within each composition.
Through her mastery of traditional water gilding techniques—an ancient process refined over centuries—Lambers creates works that bridge craft and contemporary art. Working intuitively with delicate fragments of leaf, she constructs luminous, layered surfaces that seem to shift and breathe with the light, inviting viewers into a space of stillness and contemplation.
Lambers’ work has been exhibited internationally and is included in private and public collections across Europe, North America, and the Middle East. Her recent commissions include a six-meter yacht mural for a private superyacht, installations at The Rosen House at Caramoor, residences in The Hamptons and 740 Park Avenue (New York), and luxury art projects in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Riyadh.
With over two decades of experience in gilding and fine art, Janine Lamberscontinues to push the boundaries of her medium—transforming ancient techniques into contemporary expressions of light, impermanence, and connection to the natural world.
